RULES QUARTET
RULES 1.
Each quartet must have a name (sign up on the large poster) 2. Quartets will
sing only standard polecat songs or songs in JUST PLAIN BARBERSHOP in printed
arrangement. One song only. Any chorus repertoire song may also be sung 3.
Singers need not sing their regular part. 4. An individual may sing in as
many quartets as he wishes. 5. Props/costumes are permitted (keep in good
taste). 6. No more than two members of any registered quartet may sing in
a competing novice quartet in which they sing their regular part. However up to
three members of any registered quartet may sing in a novice quartet if they do
not sing their regular part. Registered Quartets: Flashback (Snow, Mercing, Zahrt,
Purdy), Zirconium (Carter, Morris, Hotchkiss, Linsley), or Sound Fraternity (McConnaughey,
Copeland, Frazier, Setliff). 7. Monday August 18 is the last
day to sign up. Drawing for singing order will be held at the end of the chapter
meeting . 8. Last minute changes must be approved by the Quartet Activities
Chairman ( Lamar Setliff) 9. Singing in this contest does not satisfy the
normal polecat qualification requirement. 10. Awards will be given for first
second and third place. 11. Winners will be determined by a panel of judges
from outside our chapter. SEXTET
RULES 1.
Each sextet will have a name. 2. An individual may sing in an unlimited number
of sextets. 3. The sextet will consist of one tenor, two leads, two basses,
and one baritone. 4. No more than three registered quartet singers may be
in a sextet. 5. The registered quartet members may sing their normal parts
6. The sextet will sing one song, which may be either a Polecat Song, a selection
from Just Plain Barbershop, or a chorus repertoire song, . 7. The sextets
will be judged by the same judging guidelines as the quartets.
8. Only a first place award will be given. COMEDY
QUARTET CONTEST 1.
Will follow immediately after the novice contest. 2. Award for first place
only. 3. Winner to be determined by audience vote. 4. Competitors may
sing any barbershop song or parody. 5. Props and/or costumes are encouraged.
Be funny, but stay within the realm of G-rated entertainment. 6. No restrictions
on quartet membership, ie. item 6. Above does not apply. 7. Comedy quartet
may include one female singer.
8. There will not
be a separate comedy contest for sextets. They will compete head to head with
the comedy quartets. JUDGING
